Classroom Precautions During COVID-19

As schools reopen, we at Army Public School Binnaguri, shall ensure that precautions are taken both inside and outside the classroom to prevent the spread of COVID-19. All the students and staff shall strictly adhere to the following guidelines.

  • Physical distancing at school:
    Recommended measures include:
    • Increase desk spacing (at least 1 metre between desks) and students must stay at a safe distance(1m) from each other.
    • Recess to be taken as stagger recesses/breaks and lunch breaks (if difficult, one alternative is to have lunch at desks).
    • Limit the mixing of classes for school and after-school activities.
For example, students in a class will stay in one classroom throughout the day, while teachers move between classrooms; or classes could use different entrances, if available, or establish an order for each class to enter and leave the building/classroom.
    • Stagger the school day to vary the start and end times and avoid having all the students and teachers together at once.
    • Consider increasing the number of teachers, if possible, to allow for fewer students per classroom (if space is available).
    • Use signs, ground markings, tape, barriers and other means to maintain 1 metre distance in queues around entrances.
    • Students not to gather and socialize in big groups upon leaving school grounds.
  • Health and hand hygiene
Handwashing is one of easiest, more cost efficient and effective way of combating the spread of germs and keeping students and staff healthy.

    Five steps for handwashing
    • Wet hands with safe, running water.
    • Apply enough soap to cover wet hands.
    • Scrub all surfaces of the hands – including backs of hands, between fingers and under nails – for at least 20 seconds.
    • Dry hands with a clean cloth or single-use towel.
If there is limited access to a sink, running water or soap in the school, then use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60 per cent alcohol.
Did you know? Cold water and warm water are equally effective at killing germs and viruses – as long as you use soap!
  • Mask wearing in school
Correctly wearing, removing and caring for a mask is important to protect your health and those around you. Practice following this checklist to turn it into a routine.
    When putting on a mask
  •
    • Always start by washing your hands with soap and water before putting on a mask.
    • Make sure the mask is clean. Check it for tears or holes. Don’t wear it if dirty or damaged.
    • Adjust the mask to securely cover the mouth, nose and chin, leaving no gaps on the sides.
    • Make sure it is comfortable to breathe.

    • While wearing a mask
    • Change the mask if it gets dirty or wet.
    • Don’t pull the mask down under the nose or chin, or wear it on your head – it should fully cover the mouth and nose to be effective.
    • Do not touch the mask while wearing it.

    • When taking off a mask
    • Wash hands before taking off the mask.
    • Take off the mask by removing it using the elastic loops or ties. Avoid touching the front of the mask.
    • Wash your hands after removing the mask.
    • Fabric masks should be washed after each use and stored in a clean bag.
    • Medical masks are single-use and should be disposed of in a closed bin.
